Greeks Against Sexual Assault (GASA)

The goal of Greeks Against Sexual Assault (GASA) is to train members of fraternities and sororities so they can then positively influence their peers by challenging social norms that promote gender-based violence; understanding their connection to survivors of gender-based violence; and role modeling effective bystander interventions. The weekly meetings will explore issues of gender, privilege, social justice and how we can stop sexual assault and interpersonal violence, specifically within the Greek community.

This program is co-sponsored by the UConn Women’s Center and the Center for Fraternity & Sorority Development (CFSD).

Meet Our Facilitators

Olivia Cassidy

Hi, My name is Olivia Cassidy and I am currently a second year student majoring in psychology. This is my first year being a co-facilitator for GASA, and I am so excited to use my voice to educate others against gender based violence, power imbalances, and privilege within the Greek community. I hope to inspire people to speak up and use their influence to promote a world without gender based violence.

Joseph Brewer

Hey Everyone!  My name is Joseph Brewer, but I also go by Joe.  I am currently in my 3rd year here at UCONN, I’m a General Biology Major with hopes of working in Research.  This is my first semester facilitating for GASA, I was in the cohort last spring semester though!  My main goal with GASA is to involve the Greek community more, hopefully with representation from almost every chapter at the GASA meetings.  With this increased involvement I hope that we can address the issues of sexual assault, gender-based violence, and other major issues in the Greek community!
Best, Joe
